A closer look at the Phoenix mayoral candidates

Phoenix mayoral candidates Wes Gullett and Greg Stanton have squared off in more than 40 debates since April.

They’ve each created nine policy plans to address issues ranging from job growth to pension reform, to education, to small-business development.

Since mid-September, each campaign has issued more than 60 media advisories and news releases – at least one e-mail blast from each camp a day.

The 2011 race for Phoenix mayor has been one of the most competitive and substantive elections in city history.

But with just 23 days left until the Nov. 8 runoff election and early voting under way, it’s now up to voters to decide how the horserace will end.

As voters get set to cast their ballots, The Arizona Republic offers another look at the two men fighting to lead Phoenix into the future.
